Frequently Asked Questions

Horseback Riding

  • What is your cancellation policy?

We prepare horses, guides, and gear specifically for your group, so we ask for a firm commitment.

    • Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours before your scheduled ride.
    • Cancellations within 72 hours of ride time are non-refundable.
    • No-shows or late arrivals forfeit the booking.
  • What happens if it rains?

We ride in a wide range of Texas weather — sunshine, wind, light rain, and heat are part of the ranch experience.

We will never ask guests or horses to ride in unsafe or miserable conditions.

    • If we determine conditions are unsafe or unreasonably unpleasant, we will cancel the ride.
    • Weather decisions are typically made as close to ride time as possible, once conditions can be accurately assessed.
    • If we cancel due to weather, you will receive a full refund.
  • What is the weight limit?

The rider weight limit is 225 pounds to ensure the safety and comfort of both horse and rider.
  • What is the age minimum?

Riders must be at least 10 years old. Each rider is assigned their own horse — we do not allow double riding.

An adult may not bring a child under 10 and ride together on the same horse.

  • How early should I arrive?

Please arrive no earlier than 30 minutes before your scheduled ride and no later than 10 minutes before ride time.
  • What happens if I arrive late?

Late arrivals forfeit the ride and are not eligible for a refund.
  • Can we trot or gallop?

All horseback experiences are conducted at a walk. The ride is scenic, with hills and views, and the focus is on being present in nature — not speed or adrenaline.
  • What if I’ve never ridden before?

If you can follow instructions, we would be glad to have you join us. Most of our rides are beginner-friendly.
  • Is horseback riding safe for beginners?

Our guides match each rider with a horse suited to their experience level and provide instruction before heading out.

However, horseback riding is an outdoor activity involving large animals, and no ride can be considered completely risk-free.

  • Do I have to wear a helmet?

    • Helmets are required for riders under 18 years old.
    • Helmets are optional for adults.
    • We provide helmets at no charge.
  • Can I ride double with a young child?

No. For the safety and comfort of rider and horse, each guest must ride their own horse.
  • Can I ride while pregnant?

No. For safety reasons, pregnant guests are not permitted to ride.

  • Can someone come with me to the ranch if they are not riding?

Yes. Non-riding guests are welcome. There is space to sit, relax, or walk around while the group is out on the trail. Non-riding guests cannot walk along the trails with the horseback riders.
  • Can I bring my dog?

We ask that you leave dogs at home. For the safety of our horses and guests, outside animals are not permitted.
  • Is there a restroom on site?

Yes. Restroom facilities are available on site.
  • Can I use my phone during the ride?

For your safety and the safety of the group, we ask that you not use your phone while riding.

Your guide will capture photos of you along the way so you can stay present and enjoy the experience.

  • Are tips expected for guides?

Tips are not expected. If you have an excellent experience and would like to tip your guide, it is always appreciated.

  • Do you accommodate riders with disabilities?

The safety and comfort of our guests are top priorities. Due to the physical demands and nature of horseback riding, we are unable to accommodate certain physical or mental disabilities.

If you are unsure whether our rides are suitable for you, please contact us before booking. We are happy to discuss your situation and help determine whether this experience is a good fit.
