Sunset Horseback Ride on a Texas Ranch

The Sunset Ride is a small-group horseback experience shaped around timing, light, and atmosphere. It follows the same calm, well-paced structure as Brazos Bluffs’ core rides, with the added benefit of cooler air, softer light, and a natural sense of closure at the end of the day.

The ride moves across the ranch’s rolling terrain and open pastures at a comfortable pace that works well for both first-time and experienced riders. Guides focus on keeping the group relaxed, matched carefully to their horses, and confident throughout the experience. There is no pressure to perform or keep up, only space to settle into the ride and enjoy the setting.

Midway through the experience, the group pauses at a scenic overlook with wide views of the Brazos River Valley. This stop is intentional, offering time to dismount, take in the landscape, and watch the light shift as the sun lowers. Seasonal touches mark this moment: Dr Pepper poured over ice cream during warmer months, or a campfire with s’mores when the weather turns cooler.

As the ride continues back toward the barn, the light fades and the ranch quiets. The Sunset Ride is a natural fit for guests who want an evening experience that feels memorable without being intense, and for groups who value scenery, shared moments, and an unhurried pace.

Itinerary

Guests arrive at the ranch and meet their guide for a brief orientation. Horses are matched to riders, and the group reviews basic riding expectations before heading out.

The ride follows established ranch trails through rolling terrain and open landscapes as the light begins to soften. Guides maintain a calm, steady pace, giving riders time to settle into the rhythm of the ride and take in the surroundings.

About halfway through, the group stops at a bluff overlooking the Brazos River Valley. Riders dismount and spend time enjoying the view and the changing sky. Depending on the season, guests are offered Dr Pepper over ice cream in warmer weather, or gather around a campfire with s’mores during cooler months.

After the pause, the group remounts and rides back toward the barn as twilight sets in, bringing the experience to a relaxed and natural close.

  • Do you accommodate riders with disabilities?

The safety and comfort of our guests are top priorities. Due to the physical demands and nature of horseback riding, we are unable to accommodate certain physical or mental disabilities.

If you are unsure whether our rides are suitable for you, please contact us before booking. We are happy to discuss your situation and help determine whether this experience is a good fit.
