Ranch Getaway Near Waco: Stay in a Cabin and Ride the Brazos
The ride is why you come. The cabin is how you turn it into a weekend. If you are planning a ranch getaway near Waco, here is how to do it right: stay in a private cabin on the Brazos River, ride horseback in the morning, and keep the whole day on the land instead of driving back to town.
Brazos Bluffs Ranch sits on 300 acres of native grassland, limestone bluffs, and Brazos River banks, 15 minutes from the Magnolia Silos and Baylor in Waco. We have guided riders here since 2011, and the overnight cabin stays grew out of one request we kept hearing: can we just stay and ride again tomorrow?
The quick version: A ranch getaway near Waco at Brazos Bluffs Ranch means a private cabin set on its own part of the ranch, with guided horseback rides already on the calendar, plus river access, wooded trails, and a fire pit outside the door. There are two cabins, one built for couples and one that sleeps up to six.
Why stay on the ranch instead of in town?
Waco has plenty of hotels. None of them have horses outside the door. The point of a ranch getaway is that you wake up where you ride.
When your cabin and your rides are on the same land, there is no driving in between. You saddle up in the morning a few steps from where you slept, ride out to the bluffs, and spend the rest of the day on the property: fishing, walking the wooded trails, or doing nothing at all by the fire pit. It is the difference between visiting a ranch and staying on one.
The two cabins
Both cabins are private, both sit on their own stretch of the ranch, and both come with guided rides built into the stay. The difference is who you are bringing.
- Couples Ranch Getaway : For two guests, adults only. Two nights in the Little Cabin with a guided Signature Ride and a private sunset ride included.
- Texas Ranch Stay : For up to six guests. The Log Home, a stone and log house with a full kitchen, river access, and a pickleball court, plus a guided Signature Ride and a choice of sunset ride.
The Couples Ranch Getaway puts two of you in the Little Cabin for a two-night stay. The Texas Ranch Stay is made for families and groups who want the whole ranch to themselves.
Bringing someone special? The Couples Ranch Getaway pairs two nights in the private Little Cabin with a guided ride and a private sunset ride at a quiet overlook. It is the weekend people book to mark an anniversary, or just to be the one who planned something they will remember. See what is included.
What to do on a ranch weekend near Waco
A ranch getaway is not a packed itinerary, but there is plenty to fill a weekend without leaving the property.
- Ride more than once. Your stay includes guided rides. Do a daytime trail ride and a sunset ride on different days.
- Get on the river. The Brazos runs along the property, with river access for fishing and time on the bank.
- Walk the trails. Wooded trails cross the ranch for hiking between rides.
- Play and relax. There is a pickleball court, open land, and a fire pit for the evening.
- Run into town. When you do want Magnolia, the Silos and downtown Waco are 15 minutes away.
When should you book a ranch getaway near Waco?
The rides and cabins run year-round, so the best time depends on what you want the evening to feel like. Warm months end the sunset ride with Dr Pepper over ice cream at the overlook. Cooler months bring the campfire and s'mores. Spring and fall give you the most comfortable daytime saddle weather.
Cabin stays book further out than single rides, so plan ahead for holidays, anniversaries, and peak spring and fall weekends. Ranch stays carry a longer cancellation window than rides, so lock your dates once you are sure.
